On behalf of Albertans, Zaheer and I would like to join in sending His Majesty The King our well wishes as he begins his series of cancer treatments.
I have a deep admiration for His Majesty’s courage and perseverance as he confronts this disease, and trust that he will continue to be an example to us as a dedicated and passionate leader. In Canada alone, it is estimated that more than 1.5 million people are living with cancer. Seeing His Majesty publicly acknowledge and share this news will hopefully give those who are facing a similar battle strength, and increase understanding and compassion for all those who are impacted by this disease.
Our warm thoughts and prayers are with His Majesty and the entire Royal Family as they move through this difficult time.
