The Lieutenant Governor takes part in military ceremonies and is also frequently invited to preside over Awards ceremonies that recognize the bravery, achievement and outstanding public service of Albertans.

- the Order of St. John of Jerusalem investiture
- the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Citizenship Medal presentations
- the Duke of Edinburgh Awards
- the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards
- service award presentations for members of the military and police
- halls of fame induction ceremonies
- scholarship presentations
- and a range of community volunteer recognition events.
When attending events and ceremonies, the Lieutenant Governor is always accompanied by an Aide-de-Camp and a security contingent.
The Lieutenant Governor serves as honourary patron of numerous awards programs.
