The vigil in London, Ontario to honour the four innocent members of a Muslim family who were the victims of a senseless Islamophobic attack sheds light on our shared humanity. It reminds us all that as Canadians we share a common destiny.

The commitment by Canadians of all faiths, and from all different walks of life, to fight the evils of hatred and racism, brings hope and reminds each one of us to do our part in our own way, big or small. We need to do so much more to ensure that we are the country we have the ability to be.

At this time, our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the young survivor, and with our Muslim sisters and brothers across Canada.

Her Honour, the Honourable Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta
