In keeping with current restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lieutenant Governor will not be hosting the traditional New Year’s Day Levee for 2021.

Lieutenant Governor Lakhani presented the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers to 14 dedicated Albertans in a series of small group, individual and online ceremonies held in Edmonton and Calgary and via Zoom from November 9 to 24. All COVID-19 protocols were strictly observed throughout.
As we mark National Child Day, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the teachers, child care workers, health professionals, advocates, community volunteers, coaches and mentors among us for helping children to flourish and grow into strong and confident adults.
I recently had the opportunity to meet with Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw for an update on our province’s COVID-19 response, and our visit only served to strengthen my deep appreciation for the selfless service that Albertans have been offering throughout this challenging time.
While the pandemic is limiting our ability to gather together for Remembrance Day this year, we still need to honour the men and women in uniform who have served throughout our history…and to think about the deep sacrifices they have made for us.
October is Islamic History Month, a time to mark important firsts in the story of our province and to honour Muslim Albertans whose contributions through the years have reflected the best of what it means to be an Albertan and a Canadian.
To girls in our communities, I encourage you to dream big and to always share your voice with confidence. If you make education a priority, study hard and work with others to build strong teams, there’s nothing you can’t achieve!
