Anniversary and Birthday messages

Upon request, the Lieutenant Governor sends greetings to Albertans celebrating birthdays of 80 years or more in intervals of 5 years, and to couples celebrating wedding anniversaries of 50 years or more.

To request a greeting, complete the Greeting Form and send it to the contact listed on the form, by email or regular mail. Please send your request eight to twelve weeks prior to the date required. 

Please note, we are unable to create retirement messages for individuals (military or civilian). 

Messages from the Governor General of Canada

The Governor General of Canada sends messages to Canadians who are 90 years of age or older at 5 year intervals, and to couples who have been married for 50 years or more at 5 year intervals. To request a message, visit Governor General Congratulatory Messages.

Special messages and written greetings from the Lieutenant Governor

The Lieutenant Governor recognizes special events and community milestones by sending messages of congratulations and support. Requests should be sent at least six weeks prior to the event.

Due to the volume of requests received, a maximum of one (1) message per year will be provided to any given organization.  Messages are not granted for commercial endeavours or personal commendations, and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor is not able to accommodate all requests for messages.
