International Youth Day celebrates the power and potential that young people hold to transform our world for the better. By focusing this year’s theme on Youth Innovation for Planetary Health, the United Nations recognizes the key role that young people can play in fostering a healthier and more sustainable future. I have been honoured to meet many inspiring young Albertans who are applying the best of their energy, passion and innovation to find solutions to the challenges we face. I know that they will continue to lead the way forward for the benefit of their fellow Canadians and for people around the world.
As Her Majesty the Queen’s representative in Alberta, I offer my heartfelt thanks to the youth among us who are dedicated to strengthening the well-being of others and caring for planet that we all share. Happy International Youth Day and keep up the great work!
